Simple, soft, and true to you
First of all — if you’re reading this, congratulations! Your maternity session is such a beautiful way to celebrate this chapter before your little one arrives, and I’m so excited to capture it for you. One of the most common questions I get is: “What should I wear?” So, let’s break it down.

My Style Tips for Maternity Magic
1. Go with flowy over tight.
Tight, bodycon dresses can feel restrictive and honestly — they don’t always photograph as comfortably or naturally as you might think. I recommend soft, flowy fabrics that move with you and allow you to feel both beautiful and at ease. Think maxi dresses, oversized button-downs, or light robes with texture.
2. Layer it up.
Cardigans, oversized button-downs, cozy shawls, and kimonos can add texture and dimension to your outfit. Plus, they give you something to play with and move in during your shoot — always a win!
3. Coordinate, don’t match.
Aim for coordinating colours and tones rather than matching outfits. Think earthy neutrals, or soft pastels — whatever fits your vibe and season. Avoid anything too busy or neon — the goal is to keep the focus on you and your bump.
4. Say yes to texture.
Fabrics like linen, waffle knit, cotton gauze, and lace photograph beautifully and add depth without being distracting.
5. Bare the bump (if you want!...it's my personal fave!).
If you’re feeling confident, a more intimate look like a robe, oversized button-up shirt, or bralette + cardigan combo with unzipped jeans/comfy pull on pants can be incredibly soft and beautiful.
6. Comfortable shoes (or no shoes at all).
Barefoot works perfectly for indoor or grassy outdoor sessions. If you’re wearing shoes, go for something neutral and comfortable — you’re not here to be distracted by sore feet.
7. Keep hair & makeup natural.
Light waves, soft curls, or a low messy bun paired with minimal, dewy makeup always works beautifully. You want to look like you, just slightly elevated!
8. Skip the turtlenecks.
I love cozy vibes, but turtlenecks can feel heavy and distracting in photos, especially during pregnancy when your neckline and posture change a bit. Stick to open necklines or gentle scoop/v-neck options — they’re much more flattering and photograph beautifully.
9. Keep it simple (but feel free to accessorize!).
A wide-brim hat, delicate jewelry, or a cozy knit cardigan can add texture and a personal touch without taking away from the emotion of the photos.

Fun Prop Ideas (Optional but Sweet!)
Props aren’t necessary — but if you love them like I do, here are a few subtle and meaningful ones that work beautifully:
• Baby shoes or a tiny onesie
• An ultrasound photo (framed or unframed)
• A bouquet of flowers
• A personalized name sign or letter board
• A cozy blanket
• A book you’re planning to read to baby
• A wicker basket full of tiny clothes
