Snow, Laughter, and Bowling
When Tegan and Michael made the trip up from Chicago with some of their family to finalize a few details for their upcoming summer wedding in Banff, it was the perfect opportunity to capture their engagement photos while they were here.
We started the session in a sunny, snowy meadow just outside the town of Banff. Ran around and played tag until we headed to Bow Falls. What started as a calm afternoon quickly turned into a full-on mountain weather experience. Out of nowhere, the wind picked up and a blizzard rolled through. Instead of running for cover, Tegan and Michael embraced it. They laughed the entire time, holding onto each other as the snow swirled around them. Some of my favorite photos from the day came from those completely unplanned moments.
To finish the session, we switched things up entirely and headed to High Rollers Bowling Alley in Banff. The two of them grabbed a drink, bowled a round, and simply enjoyed spending time together. It felt less like a photo session and more like a date night that I happened to be tagging along on as their personal paparazzi.
One of the things I always encourage couples to consider is incorporating an activity into their engagement session. Whether it’s grabbing coffee, bowling, skating, or sharing a drink together, activities help you relax and focus on each other rather than the camera. The result is often more natural, authentic photos that truly reflect who you are as a couple.
Tegan and Michael’s session was the perfect example of that. From a snowy meadow to a surprise blizzard to a fun night at the bowling alley, the entire afternoon felt effortless and uniquely them.
